It was a pleasure to be among the large crowd last night at the Nanaimo Golf Club for the More Room for Hope campaign event to expand Nanaimo's shelter for women. A number of civic election candidates were on hand to show their support. With the current awareness on homelessness issues it was certainly a worthwhile and topical cause. Keynote speaker Alisa Everitt and several "Her Story" videos were extremely moving. My congratulations to Island Crisis Care Society executive director Violet Hayes and her team for organizing the event, and my best wishes in their fundraising efforts.
