• Awarded Canada 125 Certificate of Merit as an Outstanding Canadian Citizen from Nanaimo Canada Day Council in 1992

• Over 100 blood donations to Canadian Blood Services

• Medals Chair for Nanaimo 2002 B.C. Summer Games

• Sergeant-at-Arms for Nanaimo 2014 B.C. Summer Games

• Victoria marathon 2004 & 2007, Vancouver marathon 1984, New York Marathon 1995

• Developer of Fair Play Codes for Nanaimo Minor Baseball, 1992

• Co-founder of Nanaimo Pony League mini-soccer concept, 1978

• Coach of the Year, Nanaimo Youth Soccer, 1981

• Named as Honourary Lifetime Member of Nanaimo Youth Soccer

• Named to Nanaimo Curling Club’s Honour Roll for outstanding contributions

• Awarded Canada Celebration 88 Certificate of Merit in recognition of contributions to the community

• Served as president or executive member of Nanaimo Curling Club, Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club, Nanaimo Youth Soccer, Nanaimo Minor Baseball, Nanaimo Baseball Umpires’ Association, Nanaimo Basketball Referees’ Association, Nanaimo Soccer Referees’ Association
