2025 Property Tax Rate

At our meeting of May 12, 2025, Nanaimo City Council adopted the 2025 Property Tax Rates bylaw. An increase of 6.8 per cent to cover operating costs and one per cent for the General Asset Management Reserve has been set for 2025. For the average home in Nanaimo this equates to an additional $222 annually. Some highlights of the 2025-29 Financial Plan include continued investments in Nanaimo's Stadium District, expansion of the Community Safety Officers program, twenty new firefighters, utility upgrades in the Townsite area, and continuation of the Westwood Lake park improvement project and the Commercial Street improvement project.
