Future Community Centre

As Nanaimo continues to grow, increased demands are placed not only on our infrastructure, but also on the capacity of community recreational facilities. So it was an important announcement last Monday that the city has acquired land south of Tenth Street for a future community centre. Council had previously identified such a facility as one of its top priorities. It will help address a long-standing need for recreational and gathering spaces in the south end of Nanaimo, and will provide spaces for recreation, education, and wellness activities. Detailed plans for the facility will be worked out, and electoral approval to borrow money for construction - hopefully in the near future.
