At the April7, 2025, Council meeting there was fulsome debate over future improvements to Loudon Park on Long Lake. Council had originally favoured major improvements to the park, but at a Finance Committee meeting when several members were absent, a recommendation came forward to scale back the project substantially. Therefore, at Monday's Council meeting, I urged Council to vote down the recommendation and go back to the original proposal. Eventually, this passed by a 5-4 vote, supported by Councillors Armstrong, Brown, Perrino, Mayor Krog, and myself. The project will now not only improve storage facilities for the rowing and paddling clubs at the lake, but will improve the surrounding park and playground, have new washroom facilities, and provide a beautiful building for community events. Money for the project will come from present reserve funds. I am thrilled that this project will finally go ahead, greatly enhancing a very popular recreational facility in our community.
