Municipal Politics

As we head into campaigning for the upcoming municipal election on October 17, I need to start by making something clear. There was a recent editorial in the Victoria Times Colonist newspaper which stated "Political parties have no place in municipal politics."
I totally agree. Political party politics based on ideology, or block voting on any issue, make for extremely poor governance. We benefit from rational, independent candidates who think for themselves on each issue and make informed, sensible decisions. Personally, I do not belong to any political party and never have. Provincial and federal party politics do not belong in municipal government.
