During September 17-20 I attended the annual Union of BC Municipalities conference held in Vancouver. Aside from attending a variety of seminars, members of Council met with the provincial Minister of Health, Minister of Housing, Minister of Public Safety, Minister of Mental Heath, Minister of Indigenous Relations, and Minister of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship. A range of topics were discussed and Council had the opportunity to present concerns and priorities. We also were active in advocating for such things as Mental Health Liaison Officer, complex care beds, a provincial housing coordinator, and funding for public libraries. The conference is always useful, and an excellent opportunity to get in front of provincial Ministers and their staff.
